GKN customer support manager Glenn Fitch is celebrating his second win on the Isle of Wight Lottery.
Glenn, who is building his own house off Forest Road, Newport, won £100 two years ago but is now the proud winner of the top prize of £2,000. And it has come at just the right time.
Glenn said: “We have spent just about everything on the new house, which should be ready to move into at the end of November. But this win means we’ll be able to buy some of the finishing touches we need, including curtains!”
Glenn has been a Lottery ticket holder for about six years, and took the chance to pay for his weekly ticket through the payroll scheme operated by GKN and other island businesses.
The Isle of Wight Lottery – a division of the island’s Chamber of Commerce, Tourism and Industry - operates on a non-profit basis, and all proceeds are directed into a loan fund. Loan applications are assessed by an investment panel and are provided interest free to start-up and expanding island businesses.
Since its launch in 2001, the Lottery has paid out more than £900,000 in prizes to over 900 people.
The IW Lottery also supports the Start up Business Training programme and through this has also given support to over 500 local people entering self employment.
