Life Really Does Begin At 40 …
Mon 2 Aug 2010
The Isle of Wight Lottery’s lowest ever winning number came up with the highest prize last month.
Lottery number 40 won the weekly top prize of £2,000 – much to the surprise of its owner, 76 years old Michael Eggleton, of Gurnard.
“Ever since I joined the Lottery nearly ten years ago, I have checked the County Press for the winning numbers every week,” he said. “Last week was the first time I missed it, and my number came up!”
Michael, who has lived on the Island for 30 years, joined the Isle of Wight Lottery soon after it was launched.
“I had two sons looking for work at the time,” he said, “and I thought the Lottery was a really good cause. I still do and I will certainly continue to support it.”
Now he and his partner Millie Ord are planning to spend their winnings on a cruise, proving that life really does begin at 40 …
